About Us: Achievements:

This page details East Boro's achievements over the past five years. It is not an exhaustive list but captures milestone achievements:

2010:-

  • East Boro's Golden Jubilee - a milestone anniversary which marks the Trust's fifty year history in Wimborne and celebrates the work and inspiration of its founder Peggy Bartley.
  • The purchase of 88 West Borough, Wimborne, currently under development to provide three units of accommodation for adults with learning disabilities.
  • The purchase of ANA Housing in Weymouth, adding 42 units of accommodation to the Trust's property portfolio, providing accommodation for adults with learning disabilities.
  • An extension to the exisiting Handy Van Repair Service, to provide a Handy Van Security Service to older people in Bournemouth and Poole, supported by Dorset Police.
  • The administration and management of the Borough of Poole's Safer Homes Project.
  • The beginning of the Dorset Supported Lodgings Service, a contract with Dorset County Council to over other Supported Lodgings providers.
  • A one off project - Learning Disability Move On Opportunities Project - in partnership with Dorset County Council and the Dorset Learning Disability Partnerhsip Board to help adults with learning disabilities living in Weymouth and Portland to find more permanent, independent living accommodation.
  • The completion of the Trust's biggest re-development project to date, Cyril Wood Court, officially re-opened by Sir John and Lady Tavener in May.
  • Ongoing Tenant Involvement, with the re-introduction of East Boro's Annual Tenants Conferences.

2009:-

  • The completion of the extension to Bartley Court at West Borough, providing a further six one bedroom flats for the sheltered elderly.
  • The beginning of the Trust's biggest re-development to date at Cyril Wood Court, Bere Regis, including the refurbishment of 18 flats and new build Community Room and further six flats.
  • The sale of Parsons Corner.
  • The puchase of West Cut Cottage and Meadow View in Wimborne, providing accomodation for young people in emergency housing need.
  • The purchase of Meadow Point, a 13 unit property providing accommodation for the sheltered elderly in Wimborne.
  • A restructure of East Boro's Sheltered Housing Support Team to enable the Trust to continue to provide a seven day a week service, with the introduction of a telephone Reassurance Line to provide out of hours support.

2008:-

  • The formation of East Boro's Tenant's Consultative Committee, TCC, a group of Tenant Representatives from across East Boro's different client groups that provide feedback on policies, procedures, our services and particpate in scheme designs and future priorities.
  • The purchase of Harbour Lodge in Poole, providing accomodation for adults with learning disabilities.
  • The beginning of the Handy Van Repair Service - a contract with Bournemouth Borough Council and the Borough of Poole to provide maintenance services to older people living in the two Boroughs.
  • The completion of Furzey Flats in Poole, a property adjacent to Pergins providing four self contained flats for adults with learning disabilities.
  • The beginning of the Visiting Support Service - a contract with the Borough of Poole to provide free housing related support to older people in the Borough.
  • The start of a Housing Related Support Service to people with physical disabilties in Bournemouth, working in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council. 

2007:-

  • East Boro moves home, from 62 West Borough to Faulkner House, 31 West Street, Wimborne, enabling the conversion of the former office space into six flats for the sheltered elderly.
  • The sale of Grove House.
  • The completion of the redevelopment at Christophers, Merley.
  • The puchase of Harbour Point, Harbour Waters and Sandbanks Lodge in Poole, providing nine units of accommodation for adults with learning disabilities.
  • The retirement of Trust Chairman Father Graham Smith and election of David Cawdery as his successor.
  • The purchase of Longfleet Lodge in Poole, providing accommodation for young people (aged 16-25 years) in housing need.

2006:-

 

  • The beginning of the Christopher's redevelopement - building of four new units and a new community room.
  • Remodelling of the Pergins and Purbeck Lodge external grounds.
  • "Estate Agent" details of all schemes produced.
  • Remodelling of the Trust's Sheltered Housing Warden Services to a mobile service. 
  • The merger of the Peninsula and Wessex Development Consortia to form Source. East Boro is now a member of the largest Housing Association Development Consortia in the South West of England.
  • East Boro's Board of Management become Corporate Trustees of Cyril Wood Memorial Trust with all ongoing services being provided for Cyril Wood tenants.

These achievements combine to make East Boro Housing Trust the organisation that it is today.
