EBHT Weymouth Arts Group Update
The Mayor of Weymouth & Portland, Richard Kosier, was amongst the visitors to the recent Open Day held by our Weymouth Arts & Crafts Group for adults with all disabilities. The Mayor was so impressed by the standard and quality of work produced that he commissioned a painting to hang in the Mayor's Office.
The artist, Sarah Boydell was more than happy to oblige and, on Monday the 19th December 2016, Sarah together with her parents, members of East Boro staff and local photographer Chris Warran, visited the Mayor's office to deliver the painting.
After Sarah had presented the painting, they all enjoyed a brief history and tour of the Weymouth & Portland Offices by the Mayor, followed by tea and biscuits. Sarah got to sit in the Mayor's Ceremonial Chair and wear his Chain of Office - an honour indeed and greatly enjoyed by Sarah who is pictured above with her parents.
The Arts Group Open Day raised money for two charities via their tombola. On 4th January the Group gave cheque for £100 to the Mayor's Charity.
On 20th December 2016 the group was pleased to present a cheque to Julie Hursthouse, for Dementia Alliance Weymouth & Portland. See photograph above.
Altogether, the Open Day was a great success thanks to the hard work by both staff and artists.
