Established in Wimborne in 1960, East Boro specialises in housing and support services for the sheltered elderly, adults with learning disabilities and other vulnerable client groups in social housing need.
It provides and manages close to 400 fully tenanted properties with more than 400 tenants and delivers care and support to over 625 customers on a daily basis across Dorset. In 2016 alone, East Boro delivered more than 97,000 hours of care. The recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspection Report classified East Boro’s Domiciliary Care Service as GOOD in all areas.
In recent years East Boro has expanded its services beyond its core tenant base to people living in their own homes in the wider local community. This they have done through highly successful initiatives such as Handy Man Service and Always Help At Hand Service. East Boro also continued to deliver the Emergency Hamper Service on behalf of Dorset County Council. Between April 2016 and March 2017 a total of 954 deliveries were undertaken with 1066 hampers being delivered. Each hamper costs on average £22 and provides, not only vital supplies for the family, but also support when they are feeling at their lowest.
East Boro prides itself on being big enough to cope but small enough to care and
as an accredited Supporting People Support Service Provider and Registered
Domiciliary Care provider, it seeks to provide tenants with more than just a home.
Its customers are its reason for being, and it strives to ensure it involves tenants and
customers alike at the centre of everything it does.
‘Providing good quality housing, care and support services, making a positive difference to people’s lives in the communities in which we work’ is East Boro's mission statement and it's something the organisation strives for in everything it does. East Boro is a charitable, not for profit, social landlord (housing association) registered with the Homes & Community Agency, previously the Housing Corporation.
